Arkansas Data Use Professional Development Program
Background
The Arkansas Data Use Professional Development Program is a result of a collaboration among the Assessment and Accountability Comprehensive Center (AACC), the Mid-Continent Comprehensive Center (MC3), the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) and the Great Rivers and Southwest Cooperatives; the focus of this technical assistance project is on increasing the effective use of student achievement data, primarily from the state's longitudinal data system.
The project has two phases:
- Phase 1 of the project (August 2008-August 2009), involved piloting a program of professional development in five schools in Arkansas.
- In Phase 2 (August 2009-August 2010), lessons learned from the pilot are being used to develop an online professional development course for use across the state
This site houses the Professional Development that has been created during Phase 2 of the project. For more information on the project, please visit the AACC'S Data Use Website

Program Design
This online professional development program comprises four courses, each requiring approximately five hours for completion. Each course includes several lessons, each utilizing a combination of direct instruction, individual and group activities, guided practice, discussion, and checks for understanding. The courses are organized to cover the following topics:
Course 1: Analyzing State Assessment Data
Course 2: Analyzing Interim Assessment Data
Course 3: Analyzing Multiple Measures
Course 4: Using Formative Assessment to Improve Student Learning
The courses are designed for completion as an individual or as a member of a school or district team. If you are using this professional development for credit towards your sixty hours of required professional development, you will need to turn in your work from the activities as well as the reflection at the end of the course. Once you begin a course, you will have the option of saving your work and returning to complete the training at a later time.
